METALTECH 2000

The 6th Malaysian International Machine Tool & Metalworking Tradeshow (MTM 2000) was held at PWTC from May 24-28 to provide a boost to the metalworking industry.

MTM 2000 was the metalworking sector's response to positive trends in the country, according to event organiser, Trade-Link Exhibition Services. The event provided a specialised platform for the latest manufacturing and industrial solutions, where the manufacturing sector can find new options to increase the efficiency and productivity of its operations.

MTM 2000 brought together key players in the industry with the participation of some 500 exhibitors from 30 countries. The exhibition included segments such as CAD / CAM / CAE Systems, Metal Cutting / Machine Tools, Moulds & Dies, Forgings & Castings, Treatment& Finishings and Metrology Equipment.



A TRIBUTE TO MOTHERS

May 14 was a truly rewarding day for mothers at PWTC. A buffet brunch featuring a tantalising spread of 80 local and international food items was laid out to satisfy her palate while a 3-piece band entertained.

Food and entertainment aside, a surprise awaited all mothers in the form of free lunch vouchers to return to Riverside Restaurant.

Four mothers who were each in their 80s also received a special tribute in the form of a box of chocolates specially created by the restaurants's very own pastry chef, Zaini Ghazali.

JUNE FOCUS

Big Boys Toys On Display

It is not a toy display as the name suggests but rather a fun and exciting exhibition which brings together a diverse range of opulent "toys" likely to interest the big boys. From luxury cars and bikes to extreme sports and high technology gadgets, this exhibition is expected to attract 30,000 visitors to the Putra World Trade Centre.

"This exhibition is unique as it appeals to everyone and is like a huge toy store for adults. Its arrival on Malaysian shores signals the debut of the toys for adults concept in Asia, and is a tribute to the Malaysian sense of fun and enthusiasm for life," said Ahmad Nordin Abdul Jalil, project manager of Big Boy Toys (M) Sdn Bhd.

Big Boy Toys will be held from June 2-4. Exhibitors who have confirmed their participation include Ferrari, Bufori, Jaguar, Lotus, Harley Davidso, City Karting, Eagle Aircraft and Hobby Bounties. The exhibition will be officiated by YB Datuk Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, Minister of Youth and Sports.

Leo Club Forum

This year, Leo Club members from Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei are gathering in KL for a forum themed Synergy : The Convergence of Creative Elements. This event will be held at PWTC from June 2-4.

The forum will provide a platform for the exchange of ideas to promote fellowship and develop leadership qualities amongst the participants. Other than meetings and seminars, there will also be an awards and presentation ceremony to honour deserving individuals and clubs for their contribution to the community and schools.


JULY HIGHLIGHTS

Garment & Textile Malaysia 2000

The 3rd Garment and Textile Malaysia 2000 will take place from July 6-9. Held at PWTC for the 3rd consecutive year, this event is expected to draw some 8,000 visitors. Approximately 250 exhibitors comprising of local and foreign participants have signed up for the show.

The textile and apparel sector has been one of the main contributors to Malaysia's exports. In 1998, export textiles and apparel recorded a substantial increase of 30.6% over that of 1997. The exports increased from RM10.2 billion in 1997 to RM13.3 billion in 1998, registering a share of 4.6% to Malaysia's total exports in 1998. Major export destinations were the United States, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Germany and Japan.


MIMF 2000
The Malaysia International Machinery Fair returns to PWTC from July 27-30, bigger and better than ever.  
   
Comprising Food-Pack 2000, Printing & Labelling 2000, and Plastic Mould & Die 2000, the fair has to-date attracted 300 participants who will be showcasing the latest raw materials, accessories and state-of-the-art machinery used in the different industries. It will also provide a platform for those who are engaged in related industries to access new and advance technology and to encourage strategic alliances between local and foreign manufacturers.

To accommodate an expected attendance of 30,000 visitors, MIMF 2000 will occupy a total exhibition space of 4,000 sq. m.
 


CELEBRATING FATHER'S DAY

If the way to dad's heart is through his stomach, then make sure you treat him to an extra special meal this Father's Day. For all his love care, the Riverside Restaurant has planned a sumptuous buffet brunch in his honour, with live with to entertain.

A wide spread of local and international delights awaits him. There are more than 80 food items to satisfy his tastebuds such as sushi, roti jala, ayam alladin, yong tow foo, pasta and raw oysters. Plus, the restaurant's "must-have" glass of teh tarik.
