The Biggest Motoring Event in the New Millenium

JAZZING UP HIS FANS
Legendary jazz artiste, Al Jarreau, thrilled a crowd of about 2,500 at PWTC's Dewan Merdeka recently. In Malaysia for the first time, Jarreau gave an electrifying performance for one-and-a-half hours with songs from his earliest hits such as Mornin' to one from his latest album, Tomorrow Today.

The concert was a fund-raiser organised by the Malaysian Youth Orchestra Foundation.
 


Garment and Textile Exhibition Attracts International Players
The recent Garment & Textile Malaysia 2000 exhibition attracted the participation of fabric and loom manufacturers from Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Italy and the United States.

Held at PWTC, the four-day event was opened by Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
 



POWER PLAY AT PWTC
The national closed championship for both the men's and women's categories were held at PWTC recently.

Ng Tze Han managed to stave off Wong Zi Jing to clinch the men's title, while Siti Zulaika Foudzi won in a playoff with Samantha Lee for the women's title.
 



ANOTHER NATIONAL CAR MAKES ITS DEBUT AT PWTC

PWTC TO WELCOME FORESTRY RESEARCH DELEGATES

  Some 3,000 scientists worldwide are expected to converge at PWTC for the XX1 IUFRO World Congress. Held at 5-years intervals, the Congress is an assembly of the International Union of Forestry Research Organizations.

The Congress, from August 7 - 12, is expected to focus on pertinent forest and foresty-related issues in the 21st century. It will include a Scientific Program, Special Meetings, Post-Congress Excursions as well as a host of Social Events.


MICROSOFT TECH-CD-2000
Tech-Ed 2000 is Microsoft's largest technical training and support event for IT professionals and developers.

To be held at PWTC from August 21 - 25, the technical sessions are aimed at professionals already using Microsoft platform development tools and technologies, and who are looking for more in-depth understanding. This year, the Professional Developers' Conference will be covered under Tech-Ed 2000.



INTERIOR DESIGNS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
Whether most of your time is spent at work or at home, the environment that you surround yourself with is extremely vital as it involves and affects the way you live, work and play. It is therefore timely that an exhibition will be held at PWTC to highlight the latest innovations and technologies of the build environment (whilst not sacrificing holistic and eco-friendly development).

Dex 2000 Malaysia, to be held from August 30 - September 3, will act as a platform to showcase the ID industry. It will feature two themes, namely Office 2000 and Home 2000 as well as a series of industry related seminars.



TOWARDS A K-ECONOMY

 

From September 28 - 30, "dotcom mania" will spread throughout PWTC with the Multimedia Asia (MMA) 2000 housed under its roof.

MMA 2000 Objectives :

  • Provide an international framework for dialogue and evaluation on the progress of the MSC vision
  • Provide a platform for presentation to the international community preliminary work on the Malaysian K-Economy Masterplan and invite feedback
  • Identify and share knowledge and experience the pressure points requiring attention in facilitating the transformation to a K-Economy
  • Discuss and debate the risks and rewards to the public, private and community - interest sectors in the transformation to K-Economy
  • Showcase to the international community Malaysian and global K-Economy solutions.
MMA will focus on the development and contribution of the MSC initiative in catalysing the transformation of Malaysia to a knowledge-based economy using information and communication technology (ICT) and multimedia as the means. The three-day event will be officially opened by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr. Mahathir Mohamad.



THE POWER TO DEVELOP

Oracle's iDevelop 2000, the premier event for developer education and training, will be going to 23 cities around the world In Malaysia, the event will be held at PWTC from September 11 - 12.

The two-day event will feature the very latest technical information on Oracle's complete Internet Platform, including Oracle8i- the world's first internet database.

iDevelop 2000 will feature four tracks which include over 40 technical presentations :

  • Oracle8i - the database for internet computing
  • Developing e-business portals
  • Developing e-business applications with Java and XML
  • E-business fast track

Plus 9 hands - on sessions :

  • Keynotes
  • Technology showcase



CLEAN ASIA SHOW
Clean Asia Show 2000 is Asia's first interactive cleaning exhibition that features a packed programme of exhibitions, product demonstrations, conferences, cleaning contests and even a uniform fashion show.

To be held at PWTC from September 20 - 22, the show aims to facilitate interaction between buyers and sellers of products and services.



THE BIGGEST MOTORING EVENT IN THE NEW MILLENNIUM
The Kuala Lumpur International Motor Show 2000 is set to present the most spectacular an biggest millennium automotive event. It will bring to Malaysians and visitors the largest line-up of international and domestic manufacturers automotive models and accessories for the 21st century.

Themed "Motoring in the Millennium", the show will enable exhibitors to show will enable exhibitors to show-off their models and accessories on a neutral ground for potential buyers to evaluate and confirm their choice of purchase.

The show will cover over 20,000 square metres of exhibition space at the Putra World Trade Centre from November 25 - December 4, 2000.
